Project Blackbird is Candy’s transformative vision for “senior housing.”

The industry recognizes that its inability to figure out what boomers want makes it ripe for disruption.  Experts acknowledge the disrupter will be an outsider “not constrained by current ways of thinking or long-held traditions,” as one put it. 

But being an outsider isn’t enough. The disrupter (Candy prefers “transformer”) must also have a deep understanding of boomers, a sociologist’s understanding of community, an aging person’s understanding of aging, and a broad, systemic perspective on this historical moment. 

Candy is seeking like-minded collaborators — developers, real estate people, investors, current operators— and would like to connect with anyone who wants to learn more about Project Blackbird and help make it a reality.
